The material is often based on the kids syllabus, but there will be time at classes when adults are able to focus on their own syllabus. Adults are also encouraged to also train on weekday evenings at the adult/youth class.
Each can progress at his or her own pace, or sometimes parents decide to progress at the rate of the children so the family remains together on the same grade. One of the great things about International Taekwon-Do is the ability to make these decisions – so long as you achieve your goals in Taekwon-Do and enjoy your training, we are happy.
Kids class (9-12 years approx.) | Mini-Kids (5-10 years approx.)
Instructors: Mr Vincent Brockerhoff, I dan | Miss Lynn Kim, I dan | Mr Jin Su Kim, 1st gup
Assistants: Miss Mary Sese, 1st gup | Miss Colette Ting, 1st gup
Class length: 50 min
Taekwon-Do Mini-Kids is a programme that comes with its own workbook. The children are not taught a ‘watered down’ version of Taekwon-Do; rather they are taught the same techniques and skills that older children and adults learn in the International Taekwon-Do grading syllabus, in a carefully sequenced order, that is appropriate for their stage of physical and mental development.
The syllabus is initially divided into 4 levels, with a coloured stripe added to their white belt after each successful kids grading. The gradings are conducted at the end of each term. The two higher levels often take a bit longer to complete. It takes most children between 1 and 1½ years to complete all the levels, at which point they will be ready to work towards their first national grading to 9th gup within the normal grading system.
Kubz class (4-6 years)
Instructors: Mr Vincent Brockerhoff, l dan | Miss Lynn Kim, I dan
Assistant Instructors: Miss Colette Ting, 1st gup
Class Length: 50 min
Taekwon-Do Kubz is a programme that comes with its own workbook and uniform.
The Kubz syllabus is divided into 6 levels, with a coloured stripe added to their orange belt and two cool badges for their uniform after each successful Kubz grading. The gradings are conducted at the end of each term.
When a Kub has reached the point where they can move onto the Mini-Kids syllabus then they graduate from Kubz to a Mini-Kids white belt and are able to wear the same uniform as the kids and adults.
