Boy, how time flies - like Calum! (See below)
It has been two weeks since Nationals! And there is a bunch of us preparing for the upcoming grading – phoa! But more on that later!
This year’s Nationals was held in Auckland on 15-16 July. Thanks to the magic (actually probably quite a bit of work) that Mrs Oliver did, competitors, officials, managers, and coaches received funding from The Four Winds Foundation, Pub Charity and Trust Aoraki to cover the entry fees, accommodation, van hire, and partial flights costs!
There was a total of 379 entrants, made up of 6 regions and a country, Counties Manukau, Auckland North, Central Districts, Wellington, Midlands, South Island and Australia. Counties Manukau won Best Region with a mind-boggling number of medals - 58 golds, 54 silver and 50 bronze!! Congratulations!!! We did great for the numbers we had – well done, South Island! We placed sixth, with 7 gold, 10 silver and 19 bronze! Still a haul!
We are proud of our team from Riccarton! Everyone did a great job and put in a lot of effort leading up to Nationals so Wi-Fi hi-5 everyone!
